The Huntly section will form part of the Waikato Expressway, connecting Auckland with the Waikato and Bay of Plenty. The Huntly section involves a 15 km four-lane expressway, 3 million cubic meters of earthworks, a 60m cut through the Taupiri Pass, enhancement of over 100 hectares of forest, bush and wetland, and permanent protection of a sacred lagoon and two Pā. Collective Contractors were contracted by the Fulton Hogan - HEB Construction joint venture to complete the formation and topsoiling of batters to apply the finishing touches to the project.
